  • The Japanese beetle causes damage in both the larval and adult stages of its life.
  • Adult Japanese beetles cause serious injury to the leaves and flowers on over 300 landscape trees, shrubs, fruits and vegetables.
  • The adult beetle has an attractive appearance. The wing coverings have a shiny metallic green color.
  • Larva feed on plant and turf roots for as long as 9 months per year.
  • Adults will appear as early as mid-June and will begin feeding and breeding through July and into August.
  • Control strategies must target both the adult and larval stage.
  • Treatments include both synthetic insecticides and “natural” products.
