Many people think fall is the time to change the height of the mower. Many people tend to cut their yard too short causing extra stress on the grass and often times removing too much of the blade in the process.

Cut on the higher end of the recommended range if you are mowing a new lawn for the first time or to produce a turf that is more tolerant of drought, heat, traffic, shade, and pests. Mow grass mixtures at the height that favors the predominant or most desirable grass.

Remember: Only remove one-third of the height of the lawn at a time.

How to Mow:
You will notice when mowing that your grass tends to grow in the direction that it is cut. To prevent your lawn from appearing to lean one way or the other, try to vary your mowing direction each time. This will keep your grass looking straighter as well as preventing a washboard effect. Furthermore, mowing in different directions tends to cause a different angle of cut which is better for the grass. To make sure that you mow the entire lawn, overlap each pass. Mowing the lawn soon after it has been watered will cause the grass to stick to the mower blades and clog the mower, and can spread disease. Wait until the grass blades have had time to dry before mowing.
