Highlands Ranch Tree Care Services

Trees are living, breathing organisms.

In that sense, they can have a mind of their own.

A client of ours at Mountain High Tree, Lawn & Landscape recently notified us that one his trees in North Ridge, Highlands Ranch, was beginning to outgrow his yard. He didn’t know whether he should just cut the whole thing down or if there were other options.

Fortunately for our client’s tree, we at Mountain High Tree & Lawn had a more suitable, green-friendly option.

To hear more of the story, as well as some information on general tree care, read on tree-lover.

Tree and Shrub Care in Highlands Ranch

If you are seeing dead branches and discolored leaves on your trees, it may be a sign your trees need to be treated.

If you live in North Ridge, South Ridge, East Ridge or West Ridge, Highlands Ranch, a representative from Mountain High Tree & Lawn would be happy to come over to your property and do an initial inspection of your trees and shrubs for free. We will then go over a detailed protection plan with you.

Tree Growth Regulator

For our client in North Ridge, Highlands Ranch, we offered our Cambistat soil-based tree growth regulator.

This regulator can reduce new growth by between 30 and 60% and lasts for three years. Not only that, keeping your tree at a decent size also allows for more energy to go to the part of the tree that need care the most, such as the roots.

Our client’s tree now stands healthy and proud.

Tree and Shrub Fertilizers

Fertilization is a key to maintaining your trees’ health, particularly because the Highlands Ranch area is generally lacking in vital nutrients such as iron, zinc, boron and manganese.

If your Maple’s leaves are yellowing or you find thinning, discolored leaves on your various trees, it may be a good idea to look into some high-quality fertilizer.

Natural Control Option

For those who are interested in eco-friendly controls, you may want to check out our Natural Control options.

The Natural Controls substitutes traditional pesticides for insecticidal soaps, horticultural oils and biologicals.

It may not be as effective as traditional means, but it still does a pretty darn good job in many situations  and it ensures for a healthier environment.

Environmentally Sensitive Fertilization Program

The Mycorrhizae fungus is one of nature’s wonders that we at Mountain High Tree & Lawn have found to make a positive difference when treating our clients’ trees and shrubs.

This fungus grows on the roots of your trees and expands root surface area, making it easier for your tree to soak up necessary water and nutrients.

We also feature a slow-release fertilizer that can treat your tree for up to two years. This fertilizer also gives your trees enough time to soak it up so it doesn’t drain into surrounding soils and groundwater.

At Mountain High Tree & Lawn, we treat the all-important “critical root zone” of your trees and shrubs, which extends from the trunk to the drip line plus 20-30%. This is the important area for a through treatment.

Tree and Shrub Diseases

Fire Blight ( affects Apple, Crabapple, Pear, Hawthorne and others), Powdery Mildew (affects lilacs and roses) and Canker diseases such as 1000 Canker Disease (affects walnut trees) can be problematic for your trees and shrubs in Wheat Ridge.

If your Aspens have spots on their leaves, they may benefit from a treatment. Also be on the lookout for dead branches, discolored leaves and branches that have abnormally curved tips.

Insect and Pest Control

There is a wide variety of insects and pests that make Colorado home, including the Japanese Beetle, Aphids, Spider Mites and the Walnut Twig Beetle.

If the crowns of your trees and shrubs are thinning out or you are seeing sticky, drippy leaves, you may have a bug problem.

In the case of the Emerald Ash Borer and the Ips Engraver Beetle, preventative measures are key because these pests can be hard to control once they infest your trees. Mountain High Tree & Lawn offers three different preventative treatments for the Emerald Ash Borer.

The Emerald Ash Borer has not established itself yet in Highlands Ranch, but is a good idea to talk to an Arborist beforehand, so you are ready when it shows up . For more on the Emerald Ash Borer, visit our dedicated webpage at https://mounthightree.wpengine.com/plant-health-care/#eab.

Tree Trunk and Soil Injections

Tree trunk and soil injections are more concentrated, long-lasting and eco-friendly.

What’s not to like?

Our Merit soil injection, for example, can last for an entire season, and by applying directly into the trees root zone, you are making it healthier for the surrounding environment.

Tree and Shrub Monitoring

It’s important to continue to keep a close eye on your trees and shrubs to make sure you spot possible disease or insect infestations right away.

Not only are you caring for your tree better, but you are also making it less likely that you will have to use so many pesticides.

Our expert arborists at Mountain High Tree & Lawn are there for you if you need help monitoring your trees and shrubs from season to season. Call Us. We know what to look for and the best treatments to use when necessary. There is no charge for an estimate.

Supplemental Watering Schedules

Highlands Ranch’s soils and environment can be rather dry because of its location in Colorado’s high plains.

In that regard, it’s important to know when it’s time to add water.

To ensure your plants are receiving enough water, check the soil moisture four inches below the surface once a month year-round.

If you feel your trees and shrubs are in need of a hydration boost, our dedicated arborists at Mountain High Tree & Lawn can come by and add water treated with Yuccah, a natural soil conditioner that also softens the soil allowing for more effective water uptake.
